10,000 Rides to Insanity is a collection of my experiences I encountered while driving for Lyft and Uber in Sacramento and the surrounding cities of Chico and Davis. There were times I lost all faith in humanity, and other times I was pleasantly surprised. I drove mainly at night, and the things people would tell me were outlandish. If I were not in a happy relationship, I could have gotten into some very awkward situations. For example, I don't think it would have been appropriate to have sex with a 17-year-old girl, considering I am in my 60s, even though both times they insisted.I was also offered cocaine and heroin on numerous occasions, but the most rewarding aspect of the job was when I asked the rider how they were doing, and they responded by breaking down and crying. This happened a handful of times, always women, and always hanging onto every word of my advice. I really wish these rideshare companies had a "follow-up" feature so I could find out how things turned out. Overall, when I had a bad ride, I knew I would write it down as my therapy.
