series: In the decisive way the Priestly Editors assembled Genesis thousands of years ago, we can witness the family-quarrel that still brews within every branch of Judaism, within every branch of Christianity, within every branch of Islam, and sadly sometimes between the branches of different religions all hailing from this same Bible. What's the quarrel? The hierarchical imagination trying to squash or even kill the prophetic/ecstatic imagination. The biblical Priestly Editors go to great lengths to cover over a primal voice of the Bible, a voice scholars call "J." This unnamed storycrafter "J" offers some wild glimpses of how the prophets came to be, glimpses that invalidate not only the priests' power but any human trying to hold power over another human. Sharpening our senses, we might note today the same family-quarrel brewing in our modern religions, in our political camps...indeed everywhere. This translation of Genesis removes the Priestly Editors' cover-ups and lets this first biblical storycrafter "J" be heard, maybe for the first time, as a clever prophetic voice with incredible imagination inviting us to ecstasy: YAHWEH.
