Shane and Jessica Steeves explore abandoned buildings, from underground tunnels to skyscrapers, driven by a lifelong fascination.
For more than a decade, Shane and Jessica Steeves have had a growing obsession with searching out and exploring abandoned buildings. Their own individual experiences growing up in the Midwest led to an interest in getting into underground tunnels, rickety old farms, and dangerous gold mines. Back then, it wasn't deemed “urban exploring” yet, and Shane and Jessica were just kids being kids (without cell phones). After a couple of years of exploring local buildings, the two branched out and drove further south. During their first trip to Houston, they saw buildings that were not accessible in the north. It was an amazing experience to stand on top of a skyscraper overlooking the Houston skyline. That night, they decided to make a return trip, which they still plan out a few times a year. Due to excessive flooding in the south, the opportunities and abandoned buildings are constantly changing, with new things to see all the time.
