Adolf Wilhelm (1864-1950), professor at the University of Vienna, was one of the leading figures in Greek epigraphy of the 20th century. During the last years of his life he worked on a number of manuscripts that, due partly to their unfinished status as well as the circumstances of post-war Austria, have not been published. A close look at these papers (now held by the Austrian Academy of Sciences), however, has shown that many of his studies can still give fresh impetus to current Greek epigraphic research. The most complete of these manuscripts is the Attische Urkunden VI (Attic Documents VI), which continues a series started in 1911 and contains more than 50 articles, in which a considerable number of Athenian inscriptions are completed and valuable commentaries provided.
