After beating cancer, Helen Prior started a new life as a stand-up comedian at an age when most ladies are looking towards retirement. For many years, she had been an art historian and a Blue Badge guide - the elite of the guiding profession in the UK, taking people around museums and art galleries. She turned to comedy after the pandemic, which put an end to most of her jobs.
This book was due to be released three years ago, but Helen's husband sent her a letter stating that he would divorce her if the book were to be published. Helen decided to put it on the shelf for the sake of a happy family. However, Helen's comedy career convinced her husband that everything in the book is fiction. And fiction it is.
Throughout her comedy career, and now through her new novel, Helen is aiming to reclaim the word CxNT. Far from being the most offensive word in the English language, it should be recognised for its true meaning, as the source of life, pleasure and love. "My novel is a project I have wanted to complete for a long time. The hardest part of going through cancer was the impact on my mental health, which was so hard to deal with on my own. I hope my book will be a source of comfort to those who are going through something similar. I also want the book to inspire others to recognise that life is for living."
