The novel by Tatiana Uspenskaya (Oshanina) "Am I to Blame?" is devoted to a very important issue for any healthy society-the re-education of difficult teenagers. The main characters of the book-a young teacher of special school Paul and his student Sergei.
Paul loves his students, wants to discover the best in these children who did not have a normal childhood. He tries to engage them in interesting books, games, sports, to teach them to talk openly about problems and difficulties, to awaken the soul and conscience in each child. Paul is categorically against punishments, against denunciations, which are common in the school because of the methods of the headmaster.
Sergey is a twelve-year-old boy with a rich soul, a talented artist, kind, quiet, not capable of committing a bad deed himself, but often at the mercy of older pals, juvenile delinquents or disgusting adults.
Will the young teacher succeed in saving the teenagers from the violence and depravity that surrounds them? Or will the rigidity and callousness of the adult world prevail again, despite the educator's passion?
