This collection of 70 photographs, taken by Photographer Doug Potoksky, documents the outpouring of memorials and tributes in New York City in the days following September 11, 2001. Twenty-eight of these photographs are a part of the "September 11 Bearing Witness to History" collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Americans across the country shared the grief of the loss of almost 3,000 victims from over 70 countries on that fateful day. Among those victims were 343 NYC Firefighters and Paramedics; 23 NYC Policemen; and, 37 Policemen and 1 Canine from the Port Authority of NY/NJ.
American Heart 9/11 Tenth Anniversary serves as a remembrance to those who lost their lives, the innocent victims just going about their everyday lives as well as the Heroes who were lost in the rescue and recovery efforts.
