Diez años después de la trágica muerte de su marido, Dolores Ayala, propietaria de un viejo estudio fotográfico que se ha quedado sin clientes, recibe el encargo más insólito de toda su carrera: retratar a un difunto el día de su entierro. Aceptarlo la llevará a conocer a Clemente Artés, un excéntrico anciano obsesionado con recuperar por todos los medios la antigua tradición de fotografiar a los muertos. De su mano, Dolores se adentrará en esa práctica olvidada, experimentará el tiempo lento del daguerrotipo y aprenderá que las imágenes son necesarias para recordar a quienes ya no están, pero también descubrirá que algunas de ellas guardan secretos oscuros que jamás deberían ser revelados y, sobre todo, que hay muertos inquietos que no cesan de moverse y a veces se abalanzan sobre la memoria de los vivos.
Ten years after the tragic death of her husband, Dolores Ayala, owner of an old photographic studio that has run out of clients, receives the most unusual assignment of her entire career: to photograph a deceased person on the day of his burial.
