The anesthesiologist had earlier befriended a warlock on the black web who introduced him to dark magic then instructed him with steps on the practice of astral activity. The warlock assisted with his dark knowledge incapabling Lyle's spirit to transfer into the boys dreams then taking possession of one, transfiguring himself into a child. Afterwards he replicates himself to form into his own childhood, diminishing that of the boys he victimized. Because his own childhood was forcefully stolen away from him by his abusive uncle, Lyle's motive is to relive that childhood in order to second chance meeting his first love Rainna. He first tried to have Rainna as his project alone, but it became difficult when the procedure does not work on Rainna. Instead, it caused her tremendous memory loss to what happened to her, leaving Rainna caught between two worlds. She is blind during the day yet having clear eyesight at night where she meets two little boys and accidentally stumbles upon evidence that determined her to find the person who killed her childhood best friend years ago.
