Blusie, the little blue bird, never met her mother. She was three weeks old when she landed on a branch that overlooked a house belonging to a family of four. Every day for almost a year, Blusie witnessed the unconditional love between a little girl, a young boy and their parents. All she knew was that she wanted so badly to be a part of that family. Not a day went by that Blusie did not voice her wish. "One of these days," Blusie said again one autumn afternoon, "I am going to fly right into that house and find my place among that family." So begins Blusie's mission to find entrance into the family's grey-stucco home, and nothing is going to stop her, not even a warning from her loyal, neighbor bird friend: "Be careful what you wish for, Blusie." Blusie's first attempt -- trying to fly into the house behind the family re-entering it at the end of a long day -- ends up with Blusie crashing into the glass door and landing on the ground, her beak bent out of joint. She regains hope on Halloween, until she is scared by the spooky decorations and abandons her effort. But Thanksgiving offers another opportunity when she hears the father wish for the fattest bird to serve Thanksgiving night. Learning the true meaning behind that statement, Blusie gives up all hope. Then a miracle occurs: Blusie and the little girl make contact for the first time, and both become each other's Christmas wish. On Christmas Night, Blusie's wish is finally granted. For a week, Blusie enjoys the family love inside the home. But when she starts missing her neighbor bird friend, and realizes that she has lost her freedom to fly, Blusie begins to feeling ill. Her neighbor bird friend's warning sadly resonates. Then New Year's Day arrives, and Blusie and the little girl learn a very valuable lesson in unconditional love and friendship.
