The book which is here given to the world, begun many years ago, but still in an unfinished state, is one for which Cambridge antiquarians have Often longed. Dr H. P. Stokes and the Rev. F. G. Walker - 40 whom the best thanks Of all of us are due - have been responsible for the arrangement by which the printed sheets have been transferred to the Cambridge Anti quarian Society; and I have gladly complied with the suggestion of Mr Bowes that I should write a short prefatory note for the volume.
