Navy SEAL Landon Shultz returns to his hometown on Maryland's Eastern Shore with his three-year-old son in tow after his girlfriend decides she doesn't want to be a mother anymore. Landon is given thirty days of emergency leave from the Navy to figure out his life. Erin Conrad rents a sailboat in Baltimore for a romantic sail to Canvasback Cove with her boyfriend. When the wind dies, and they realize the sailboat's motor is broken, they reluctantly summon a towboat. Landon's heart stops when he reaches the stranded sailboat and realizes who is on it. He had not seen nor heard from Erin in twenty years. Erin doesn't recognize her childhood friend at first but is flooded with painful memories and complicated emotions when the realization sinks in-not the least of which is her anger at Landon for causing an accident that cost her a college scholarship...and her leg. When Erin's boyfriend-a cardiologist-is suddenly called back to Baltimore to perform an emergency open-heart surgery, the only logical choice is to hop on the towboat and let Landon ferry him back, leaving Erin to sail to Canvasback Cove alone. Luckily, the wind fills in, but a series of mishaps sailing through a shallow channel cause Erin to lose control of the boat...right in front of the boatyard Landon's father owns. Landon and Erin tiptoe around each other as they try to work together to repair the broken boat. Will a few days be long enough for them (and their families) to make peace with the past and move into the future?
