Mech leads a ragtag band of heroes who work from the shadows, maintaining complete secrecy, staying out of the limelight, and hiding from the press as they take on the terrors that cause people to run from the darkness. Unknown to them, the Chess King is also working in Seattle, and he wants what they are seeking. Will he succeed in his evil plan? Will the Mystery Society be discovered? Will Mech's famous superhero twin brother, Star, spoil everything by refusing to leave Mech alone?
