Most of her classmates call her 'Chicken Girl', but Elzie doesn't mind. Her family has over one hundred chickens! They even have goats, horses, rabbits, pigs, cats, a Guinea pig, and a dog named Gourd. Elzie would rather be home with her animals any day than at school, especially with that Billy Bully picking on her all the time. He sits right behind her in class and everything! But when the school holds its annual fall festival, Billy becomes the least of Elzie's problems. Elzie can't think of anything to bring to the Fall Fest, and her teacher, Miss Anderson, wants everyone to take part. When Elzie catches her dad talking to Jesus in the barn, she decides to give this talking to Jesus stuff a try herself. She figures between herself, her momma, and Jesus, she can figure out something to bring to the Fall Festival!
