Today China's growing armed forces, political-world play and economic ‘games’ has given the Chinese an influence of which Mao, China’s 20th century political father, could only have dreamed of. Chinese officials on world stage still habitually complain that the world has not accepted China's emergence which in essence is pretence because they are genetically molded to display humility but internally they are ruthless to the core! The Chinese are continually seeking empathy from the third world countries well knowing the serious economic and political games of the former USSR and the ‘Western’ alliances. On the stage they appear with the banner which ‘reads’ that the developed nations want to thwart its ambitions and “contain” it yet they come in peace. For this reason, the rest of the world can see America and the other ‘beasts’ to be actually trapped and the only option they have is to lament this ‘ascendant pacifist’ from the east while playing a “cold-war mentality”. Whether China is a world power by its own right playing a medium power mindset is a matter of conjecture. Perhaps we should be speculating what China’s world view is from its head quarters in Beijing. We might be tempted to think of China's intentions as entirely peaceful, but its plans to enrich its military with weapons are shrouded in secrecy as it even modernizes its nuclear arsenal. The ‘watchers’’ small degree of anxiety about China’s camouflaged ambitions is more than just cold-war paranoia, those who can read the signs are able to see the unsavory scenario unfolding but have no power to stop the wheel turning. From our mental archives, when there is a show of military might, there is more taking place behind the scenes in terms of strategy as in a chess board game! The October 1st parades are just the continuous reminders to the world concerning our perception of who China is.
