Shajil Anthru is a multilingual litterateur who wrote the world's shortest story; He is also the Founder of Zeroism, literary philosophy and Fish bone poetry-new poetic structure.
"Church Bells" includes Shajil Anthru's eighty three poetry. The introduction is the last story written by Late K M Anthru, father of Shajil Anthru who passed away at the age of 83. Shajil Anthru's early age story "Mussels" is the foreword for this book; Cover painting is made by Shajil Anthru's daughter Roshni Shajil which is her consecutive ninth painting for father's book cover.Starting from July 2017, when Roshni was 4 years old, she continue to paint and design at least one cover page annually for her father.
The 83 poems included in this collection are the reflection of K M Anthru's story and are hidden with the untold tale of his last days.
Giacomo Cuttone, Artist from Italy about Roshni's Cover painting comments on Roshni's painting: "Elegant and naive works", this is how Paul Klee defined his childish drawings. Elegant and naive, it seems to me, this artistic work of Roshni, especially for her ability to look at the world in an innocent way, capable of pointing directly to its symbolic representation. A world of colors, hers, where there is no trace of the "ugliness" that dominates our time.
John C. Mannone, author of five full-length collections, including Flux Lines: The Intersection of Science, Love, and Poetry (Linnet's Wings Press, 2023) and Sacred Flute (Iris Press, 2024), writes about Church Bells: "Whether an artifact of translation or deliberate use of language, Church Bells presents an intriguing collection of 83 poems. There is a certain innocence in how Shajil Anthru uses phraseology of the English language. I can imagine how beautiful this work is with its musical melodies and rhythms. There are pearls of wisdom in some proverb-like poems, vignettes, and anecdotes, which also posit unanswered questions of love and life. Sensitivity and catharsis thread the poems on certain sentiments like isolation and loneliness, loss and grief, love and heaviness of unrequited love. Much sadness, even despair, threads the work, yet it closes with a touching homage to the author's father. I applaud the unapologetic honesty of this collection."
