Meet Percival Edgar Winter, an angry young man on an evil quest. Along with him rides James
Earl Ketchner, a man more than twice his age, who was once, quite recently his mentor. Now the roles seem to have reversed. Or have they? James rides along with him in hope of changing his mind, even as his own life disintegrates around him. But Percival has plans for James. Plans he keeps to himself.
Meanwhile, Patrol Officer Wade C, Brookman, who patrols the streets of their suburb, will cross paths with both men at various times before their departure. He will make one fateful, routine decision that could set the stage for a national tragedy. Or perhaps prevent it.
