The Lord Jesus-Christ on earth knew the Holy Scriptures well, and there he drew the weapons he used to defeat the cunning nature of his opponent (Matthew 4: 1-11). It is from the knowledge of the Holy Scriptures that every Christian from his childhood may also become wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3: 15, Joshua 1: 8); hence the need to search for the Scriptures (John 5: 39).
