Following their mission to Adair, Prince Elias and Mylah are sent to Hyrdian while King Castien deals with the aftermath of their unveiled secrets. As Elias learns to control his magic, Mylah works on overcoming the guilt and grief that has consumed her. Meanwhile, Crane begins sending letters to Cassia who gives them insight into King Florian's plans and the wellbeing of Greyson, who is working within the castle of Adair.
