Excerpt from Early Records of the First Presbyterian Church of Syracuse, N. Y
The present officers of the Society are: Watson Gill, President; Seymour 11. Stone, vice-president; D. J. Francis, Secretary; (e. P. Howe, Acting Secretary in the absence of Mr. Francis); G. L. Merrill, Treasurer, all of Syracuse, N. Y.
The following records of marriages, baptisms and admis sions to the First Presbyterian Church of Syracuse (with the exception of a few later entries) were made by the Rev. John Watson Adams, D.D., pastor of the church from its organization in 1826 to his death in 1850.
Quite a number of fully verified additions and corrections have been made. These records extend from an early period in the history of the village, to a short time after the incorporation of the city of Syracuse, and embrace the names of very many of the pioneers of this place. It is believed that they constitute a collection of genealogical and historical facts of considerable value.
