"Ending the Glorious Race" is the autobiography of Richard Cortez. He was born in 1927, in San Antonio, Texas.
When Richard grew up, Spanish was treated like curse words. He reflects on the racial struggles of the 1940s. Richard then joined the U.S. Navy in 1946.
After sailing around the world, he decided to go to college and study music. After graduation he met his beautiful wife, then became a Band Director. He taught music in Texas, Hawaii and California.
His marriage was mostly happy, with a few rocky points that shook the foundation of their vow before God. The Lord had mercy on him, and saved him at 72. A few years after his conversion, the Lord put Richard through the toughest trial of his life, his wife being diagnosed with Alzheimers.
Outwardly he appeared to be a good citizen, but inwardly he knew he was a sinner and in need of Savior. At the age of 72, the Lord had mercy on Richard and rescued him.
After becoming a Christian, the Lord would put Richard through one of the most painful trials of his life. Lupita, his wife, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. As she slipped into senility, Richard struggled to show the love of Christ to his dying wife.
