Lost in the dense fog of selfishness and indii ference, in troops and solitary, humanity struggles and drags itself not knowing whither, following in blind frenzy the will-o'-the-wisp of cant, the ignis fatuus of pseudo-science, or that abomination of all things earthly, pseudo-religion. Well may we hearken to the prophets voice calling from the abyss of centuries to stop and consider. Not unwise indeed to Stop before the altar of our hopes and dreams, and to repeat to our questioning hearts, that late and soon, getting and spending we lay waste our powers.
