An eye disease can refer to any of the diseases or disorders that affect the human eye. Eye problems are treated within the field of ophthalmology. Age-related eye diseases are the leading cause of blindness and low vision. A few major eye diseases are macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Macular degeneration is an eye disease which involves damage to the center area of the retina, which enables a person to see fine details. Cataracts are caused due to the development of a cloud film in one or both eyes. Most eye diseases have no early symptoms. The patient might not notice any pain or changes in the vision until the disease has become quite advanced. The book aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of eye diseases.
