Farnsworth Chronicles - Book I (previously called Rhineheart's Game) is the first book about Nicolas James Farnsworth. His family and friends call him NJ. He was born with spina bifida into a large, single-parent family in a big city where money is scarce. When he starts middle school, all the students in the special needs class are issued a laptop computer to help them with their schoolwork. However, when NJ gets home and turns on his computer, he meets an artificial intelligence (AI) program by the name of Rhineheart, who introduces NJ to a virtual reality computer world which teaches him skills he needs to live a fuller life in his wheelchair. Once inside the game, NJ finds he can walk, run, and play like other children, but he must also give up something in this alternate reality life to retain balance. The people he meets and the skills he learns make it so he will never be the same person again once he returns to his true life and his real wheelchair. But will he find he enjoys his alternate life more than his real life?
William Staub was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, graduated from Brigham Young University in the field of education, and made a career in the US Army. He has been reading and writing stores to and for children for many years and also writes in the genre of LDS/Christian action/adventure thrillers. Now that his children are grown and have families of their own, he and his wife of 50+ years retired and live in St. Augustine, Florida.
