A hundred years has passed since the Church of Progression came to power with the Cardinal at its helm, crushing the spirit of Hestonia beneath an iron-shod boot. With the aid of the Inquisitors— highly trained church operatives with access to magically-powered technology— the church oppresses all who stand in the Cardinal's way.
Kalon Rhadon is the one agent who remains steadfast in his mission, despite his suspicions of the Cardinal. He is Fate's Hand, the most dangerous weapon the Church commands. Sent on a mission to recover a dangerous magical artifact containing the teachings of the demonic Anshada, Kalon's quest brings him across many of the Church's targets: magic-users, wizards, and descendants of the once-powerful Anshada. Yet, as the church's conspiracies and internal strife begin to affect Kalon's mission, ultimately threatening to doom it, even Kalon begins to doubt the established order of things, sending him into uncharted territories to understand the role Fate herself has planned for him.
