The monograph is devoted to the problems of genre classification of the Turkmen musical heritage of oral tradition. The analysis presented in the work is based on archival audio/video samples from the traditional music fund of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kuliyeva. The study resulted in a typology of genres, taking into account their functional purpose, compositional structures, ways of living, regional and local performance features, poetics of content and a set of musical and expressive means.
