was recorded in three weeks. Some of the material does sound rushed, incomplete -- the songwriting almost always takes a back seat to the production -- but that's actually part of the set's charm. The un-fussy rawness suits the group, who are at their mischievous "the pavement to

' penthouse" best here, though it goes without saying that nothing is quite as hot as their work on
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam
's
"I Wonder If I Take You Home."
The whole set is entertaining -- charmingly mid-'80s, at worst -- and a minor treasure for beat freaks who can't get enough hard kick drums and burbling 808s. The
