Dear Reader, They made it a Christmas to remember. It was not only for their historic flight to the moon but, also, for their reading of verses from chapter one of the Book of Genesis. Yes, the Apollo 8 astronaut crew, on Christmas Eve of 1968, read the account of creation to the listening world from the King James Bible they brought with them. What a moment of impact! You don't have to be an American astronaut, though, to have an impact from reading the Bible. You can come from any profession, race, or nationality. You can be a mom or a dad, a grandma or a grandpa, an aunt or an uncle. You can be a teacher reading to a class or a student reading to a friend. The impact of reading the Bible is truly immeasurable. I do know, though, the impact the Bible had on me as a young Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. It was there I heard its message from a godly minister and became a believer. I continued to see its impact as a pastor myself for many years. This edition of Genesis can have great impact.
