Blackic. 3rd Edition. revised. — There can be no doubt that this book will facilitate the rational teaching of geography in the upper forms of schools; and will prove interesting to many thoughtful travelers. Prof. John Stuart Blackie contributes an introduction in which he copiously illustrates the advantages arising from an intelligent acquaintance with the nomenclature of topography, and draws out much of the information concealed in the place-names of Celtic Scotland. It would be difficult to find a. sponsor with more enthusiasm than Mr. Blackie; and those who read his essay are likely to make a point of consulting this volume for the elucidation of geographical names. We can promise them that, with the exception of a few names at present insoluble, they will not be disappointed.
