Grayson Jones Goes to Des Moines
This Is Book 3 in the great debate series
Dear Reader,
Prepare yourself for a wild ride through the chaotic and hilarious world of middle school debate competitions with Grayson Jones and his quirky crew! This book, "Grayson Jones Goes to Des Moines," is packed with laughs, action, and a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more.
Grayson Jones never intended to join the debate team. In fact, he thought they said "bake" and got excited for cookies. Instead, he found himself sweating through his shirt in front of his class with a stack of notecards, clueless about debating. Somehow, this led to him being "volunteered" for the district competition. But hey, it wasn't all bad. He made some weird but loyal friends: Jasmine, the fact-master; Theo, the joker; Maya, the chaos-loving leader; and Percival Johnson, the British exchange student with perfect posture and a knack for arguing... and throwing punches.
Their topic? The 1950s and how the world had changed since. They lost sleep, their minds, and all their research at one point. Grayson even literally got lost. And in the end? They lost the debate. But plot twist-the winning team had cheated. So now Grayson and his team were officially the district 9 champions. Which meant one thing: they were going to state.
New topic. New stakes. Same weird team. Grayson Jones is back... and this time, he is (mostly) ready.
The state debate competition is a single-elimination bracket with 24 schools competing. Lose once, and you're out. The final round will include 3 teams, and only the top 2 from the final round advance to Regionals. First place wins a dinner with the governor. The entire competition will be judged by state representatives, retired teachers, and one former national debate coach who "has no tolerance for nonsense." The event will take place over three days: Friday: Preliminaries, Saturday: Semifinals, Sunday: Final Round. Each team is also required to submit a 20-page written report on their debate topic: The 1960s. This report is due the morning of the first round.
Thirty days. One report. One shot at redemption. And possibly... dinner with the governor. The countdown had officially begun.
Join Grayson and his friends as they navigate the ups and downs of middle school life, from awkward dances to heartfelt conversations, and from intense debate prep to unexpected moments of joy. With humor, heart, and a touch of chaos, "Grayson Jones Goes to Des Moines" is a story about friendship, resilience, and finding your voice.
So, what are you waiting for? Dive into the adventure and see if Grayson and his team can conquer the state debate competition. And remember, the journey is just as important as the destination.
Happy reading!
Sincerely, Nora Aron
P.S. Don't forget to look out for the cliffhanger at the end! You won't want to miss it.
