Plain looking Scarlett Wells lives a double life. When she's dressed in her green wig, gaudy shirt, clown pants and face paints, she's Scarlett the clown. Scarlett, the barely 5 foot tall clown does parties for special kids and volunteers each day at the children's shelter where she was raised. When she wants some respect, Scarlett takes off her green wig and puts on her red one. With long flowing red hair, skyscraper heels, and green contacts, Scarlett is known by her middle name, as Dr. O'Hara Wells, child psychologist. The height difference along with the striking wigs, face paints and contacts make Scarlett and Dr. O'Hara look very different. Is it any wonder that she accidentally fooled Tim Mathews into believing they were two different people? Tim Mathews is the kind of man Scarlett has always wanted. Steady conservative, and the single parent of a child Scarlett adores. There's only one problem. Tim Mathews hates Dr. O'Hara Wells. Scarlett knows that as soon as Tim discovers that the tall red-haired green-eyed doctor he despises is the same person as the short, dark-haired gray-eyed woman that he kissed so thoroughly, he will run out of her life and not look back.
