After a grueling schedule of completing medical school, Grant Hayes returns home to inform his parents, Alexander and Kate Hayes, of his pending engagement to Tina Hamilton, a Boston socialite. However, an encounter on the train with a childhood friend, Danielle Johnson, makes an unexpected impact on his life. Also, the influence of being home draws the wayward Grant back to God. In his state of confusion, uninvited guests arrive in Progress, causing his previously certain plans for the future to go away.
