Honoring the Circle shows the extensive impact American Indians have had on Western political thought and practice since first contact and how continued learning from Indians can help solve major problems for living well together and with the Earth. Volume II unfolds how the vast impact of initial contact and ongoing interaction with Indians greatly influenced American social thinking and practice from 1800 to the present in the rise of the American philosophy of pragmatism, including current progressivism, the women's movement, the 1960s youth movement, and the environmental movement. Volume I sets forth the American Indian impact on the United States and Europe to 1800. Volume III discusses what can still be learned from Indians on politics and economics. Volume IV discusses what can still be learned from Indians on dealing with the environment and education.
