Army and packed off to the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, where he and his buddies learn to fight only as much war as they have to. Local Viet Cong elude them and North Vietnamese regulars ignore them. Private Hooch goes AWOL and sinks into the maelstrom of Saigon's underworld; that is until US Customs Agent Malevarian gets wind of Hooch and his American GI buddies smuggling marijuana out of Thailand!
