IMPLIED MALICE

by Rick Curry (Author), Yolanda Davis (Editor) Format: Kindle Edition
Implied Malice — by Rick "Tone-Black" Curry
Implied Malice isn't just a novel—it's a heartbeat from the streets of 1980s Coconut Grove, Miami. It's where Bahamian roots met Black pride, and where survival became both an art and a curse. Through the eyes of Marcus "Moon" Miller, a young man hustling for purpose in a world where one wrong move defines your destiny, Rick Curry delivers a story pulsing with rhythm, danger, and redemption.
Moon isn't a villain—he's a product of his time. Between night classes and street corners, family pressure and fast money, he's forced to navigate the thin line between good intentions and bad decisions. Implied Malice captures the electric energy of Miami's Goombay festivals, the grind of back-alley hustles, the scent of fried conch and trouble in the air, and the voices of a generation who built everything from nothing.
Every chapter exposes the soul of the Grove—its laughter, its pain, its beauty, and its struggle against gentrification and loss. This is more than a hood story. It's a cultural time capsule where loyalty and love fight to survive against the odds. Rick Curry brings it alive with the authenticity only someone who's lived it could deliver.
About the Author: Rick "Tone-Black" Curry
Born and raised in Coconut Grove, Miami, Rick Curry—known in the community as "Tone-Black" or simply "Rick"—carries the spirit of the Grove in his veins. A former dancer, drill-team leader, and survivor of Florida's toughest lessons, Curry grew from the same soil that shaped Implied Malice. His storytelling blends raw truth with purpose, transforming real-life pain into powerful art.
Before becoming an author, Curry fought his own wars—legal, personal, and spiritual. He spent decades studying federal law, later founding Accused Federal Guide to Justice Paralegal LLC, where he helps others fight back against a system built to break them. With over 25 years of experience in post-conviction law, he turned his struggle into service, his mistakes into mentorship, and his redemption into a mission.
Rick Curry's voice is deeply rooted in authenticity. His work stretches from legal self-help guides (The Accused Federal Guide to Justice Handbook) to spiritual empowerment (Religious Liberation), to children's fantasy (The Five Pups of Buganda), and now to this raw, cinematic street saga that blends memory, culture, and Miami grit.
Implied Malice stands as both confession and celebration—a story of dreams, hustles, and consequences. It's a reflection of a boy who became a man before his time and a writer who turned survival into scripture.
Curry's journey—from the reefer hole to redemption, from Coral Gables Senior High to the heart of America's prison system, from pain to publication—is proof that purpose can grow out of chaos. Every word he writes is a tribute to the Grove's forgotten voices and to the ones still fighting for their own.
A Word from the Author
"I didn't write Implied Malice just to tell a story. I wrote it to keep the voices of Coconut Grove alive—the hustlers, the dancers, the dreamers, the mothers who prayed, and the ones who never made it home. The Grove raised me. It made me. It tested me. This book is a mirror to every young man chasing fast money without realizing the real price of the game." — Rick "Tone-Black" Curry
