Ultimately, life is a rich tapestry woven from the threads of biology, philosophy, spirituality, and personal experience. It's a journey that each of us navigates in our own way...with and without assistance. However, in reality, there will be assistance positive or negative, known or unknown. Sometimes, the individual life will be in-sync or out of sync with outside others. Human life starts as a virtual life beginning or life ending competition. Typically a woman and a man have a relationship, in this instance sexual. The sperm (estimated to be at 80 and 300 million competitors) that the man deposits in the woman's virgina start a journey toward the woman's womb in search of a fertile egg or eggs. If it pleases God to allow sperm to enter an egg or eggs they (eggs) are sealed off from any of the other competitors. Basically, creating the first single act of human selfishness. Science informs that a single egg can entertain more that one sperm...but the swimmer that reaches first wants to protect its chance for survival that could be challenged by other potential brothers and sisters. If the egg is entered and allowed to grow until the point of child birth...it is believed a miracle happens, a human child (or children) is born to the world. Many positive and negative factors now come into play.
However to bring the theory of this essay into a more specific focus, we will move forward culturally to put a life on the most vulnerable in American society...the young African American male as a classic example of what happens on the playing field of life. This discussion will now turn in that cultural direction to make the primary point of this document:
