"Jesus F(orever) N(ow) Christ" was first published in the Irish language (Gaelic) by Cló Iar-Chonnacht in An Spidéal in the West of Ireland as "MacDé, Cé Hé". Those rhyming words don't translate directly into English except as "Son Of God, Who Is He?". The answer to that question is "Jesus." The added words behind the letters "FN" reflect the sense in which for some people those words constitute an expletive for many people while for much of man-kind they are a blessing. As far as the author is concerns, he has loved Jesus since he was a child gathered around the local schoolmistress with other infants as she regaled them with Bible stories about such happenings as the raising of the widow's son from the dead or the wedding at Cana.. He thought this Jesus was one great guy and he still does.
Seventy years later he sees Jesus not as some kind of precious "eye in the sky" complainer but a God-son open to everyone whether they like him or not. They can nick-name him. They can blame him but he is there for them. The story tells of a film crew that visits a coastal village to film a "Life of Christ. Some of the crew are agnostic, others atheist with a few Christians. Some locals expect a bonanza, others are less enthusiastic, while some extreme Roman Catholics from the Capital City of Dublin hasten west to save souls.
