As the Master Wizard, Wargo commands the respect and power of all in Wales that believe in the old Celtic ways of King Arthur and his legends. But when he must go out into the world without his hooded cloak to hide him, he becomes merely Warick, one of the Wizard's men. It is as a mere man that he encounters Lady Sarah, a young woman he had helped heal as the wizard, but seems only to inflame her rage at him with every word he speaks. And with every encounter they have, a passion has inflamed in him as never before in his solitary life as the supposedly ageless wizard. He vows to fight and win this battle over his mere mortal passions, and never to break his sacred vows he has taken.
Lady Sarah has sworn to herself she will never marry a man and have him control her life, so she is doing everything in her power to prove to the Wizard Wargo that she is qualified to become one of the sacred Keepers of Arthur's Legend, there by securing her protection without a marriage contract. Why the wizard has sent his man, Warick, to judge her worthiness in his place she does not understand. Unless it is to test her ability to resist a man's passions, because that is all the handsome Warick is attempting to do. She will battle his seductive ways with every fiber of her being no matter how strongly she wants to give in. And she will prove to the wizard Wargo that it is Warick that is incapable of controlling his passions, not her.
