The tumor was obviously aneurismal; and, from the date of its first occurrence, the conclusion was inevitable that the blood must have escaped from the femoral artery in consequence Of ulceration produced by pressure of the femur. This was the Opinion upon which the operative procedures were based.
The man was pale and exsanguine, and, even with the free use Of opium, had suffered severe and constant pain. The pain was referred chiefly to the swollen. Parts, but it extended also somewhat to the lower part of the limb.
