The fourth edition incorporates findings and data from the 2020 WRF project 4689 study; the 2016 "Residential End Uses of Water, Version 2" study (WRF project 4309B; DeOreo et al. 2016); and other studies including similar high-resolution demand profiling approaches. The "Residential End Uses of Water, Version 2" study provides an updated and expanded assessment of water use in single-family households across North America and presents detailed information and data about how water use has changed since WRF's oft-cited 1999 "Residential End Uses of Water" was published (Mayer et al. 1999). These results and data as well as other entities advancing the knowledge of domestic water usage were used to develop a new methodology and calculator for sizing water meters for single-family and small to mid-sized multifamily buildings. Every chapter in the manual has been updated to include the latest information and guidance, and Chapter 4 has been significantly expanded from earlier editions.
