This is a story of a moment in time, when both a young Irish girl and her occupied nation searched for their future. It's that time in Irish history when servile employment opportunity for the Catholic population was improving, but poverty and deprivation for that same population was worsening It was that time when the Anglo Irish swore their allegiance to the crown and armed themselves to protect the union; It was the time when the Irish Brotherhood armed themselves in the hope of self rule and an Irish Republic. It is during this time, and during the events of this time, that we meet the McCarthy family and their extraordinary daughter Maggie who is determined to find a meaningful purpose in her life.
