Alex Phillips (Al for short) is a fourth grader who loves his friends, loves his family and LOVES his school. But that all may come crashing down when forces beyond his control lead to his Dad doing the unthinkable: applying for a job at Al's school, working in the cafeteria. Al's Dad is about to become a Lunch Lady!
Super scared at the thought of having his dad, a construction worker who drives a pickup truck and works outdoors with his hands all day, right there in the lunch room ever afternoon, Al isn't sure what to think. Will his Dad wear an apron and a hair net? What will his friends say? Will he EVER be able to overcome the embarrassment?
To make it through it all, Al will have to rely on his friends, his wits and his ability to grow in ways he could have never imagined!
