When twelve-year-old Mya and her mom move from their countryside home in Pennsylvania to Manhattan, New York, Mya begins to realize just what a huge turn her life is about to take, now that she's in the city. She begins a new school at PS231 and quickly discovers how different she is from the other kids. While struggling to make friends at school, Mya befriends the elderly woman in the apartment across the hall, who introduces her to a new decade of literature with her large collection of books. She also makes a new friend in the form of a pen pal from Massachusetts, thanks to her school assignment. Join Mya as she discovers the city, learning about landmarks and artifacts, all while attempting to make friends and become acquainted to her new life in New York City.
