In his novel, Out of Saul~Paul 'From Tarsus To Aquae Salviae,' Ken Bangs uses the historical record, combined with that which is probable and that which is possible to bring us a look at the man who is chiefly responsible for the structure of the Christian Church.
Scripture speaks little of Saul's mother and not at all of his father. But there are glimpses offered in the historical record and Bangs combines that with what is probable and that which is possible to weave a story of who his father was, how his parents came to wed, how he became a son 'Of Tarsus', what made him declare himself as a Jew's Jew, his persecution of those who followed Jesus, the influence of Stephen's stoning and his meeting of the risen Jesus on the Damascus Road.
The novel carries the reader through his conversion, his early ministry, why he appealed to Caeser, his ministry in Spain, his return to Rome and then his condemnation and execution at Aquae Salviae.
This is not a dissertation on Paul, it is a novel. The reader will find it exciting, dramatic and educational.
