A celebration of 150 years of fine British perfumery, Penhaligon's library of Portraits perfectly sum up who we are. Inspired by history, myth, lore and legend, there’s a story behind every scent. Choosing from our plethora of perfumes can be difficult. Yet the Portraits library brims with classics. Acquaint yourself with members of Penhaligon’s very own Portraits milieu.   Collection includes: The Coveted Duchess Rose Eau de Parfum The Tragedy of Lord George Eau de Parfum Changing Constance Eau de Parfum The Blazing Mister Sam Eau de Parfuml The Bewitching Yasmine Eau de Parfum The Revenge of Lady Blanche Eau de Parfum Terrible Teddy Eau de Parfum The World According to Arthur Eau de Parfum Our story starts with our founder, William Penhaligon. A humble Cornish barber who rose to the Royal Court, and trimmed the Shah of Persia’s beard. The year is 1870. William’s first perfume was Hammam Bouquet, inspired by the Turkish Baths where he was resident barber. The fragrance was exotic. It was exciting. It caused quite a stir. Mayfair’s bright young things clamoured for more, and more they received. A slew of fabulous fragrances followed. Today, Penhaligon’s is perhaps the world’s most esteemed fragrance house: we proudly hold a Royal Warrant (two more grace the pages of our history book) and continue to entertain the world’s nostrils with a dose of Britishness, and some rather dazzling scents.
