I wrote the first draft of my story in the year of 2013 just before I went into prison for the last time. Putting my story on paper made it real and taught me how self-centered I was. I blamed everyone and everything around me to avoid looking at myself in the mirror. My story evolved over the years as I changed and let God back into my life gradually and cautiously. Now, looking back, I realize God never left me. God kept putting people in my path to help me. Due to other priorities, which will be uncovered throughout this journey, I missed the many signs from heaven. Most importantly, I have learned that hurting myself was easy, living is hard, but worth it. This is just a fraction of my story as there are many details, I could not cover throughout my stay in 19 different jails, prisons, and numerous rehabilitation centers. Over a 20-year span, I spent over 7 years locked up due to alcohol and drug addiction, with my first incarceration at the age of 39 and last at the age of 59.
