Play It Again, Kam is a light-hearted, comedic, soft-boiled mystery romp through the dark and the light sides of Hollywood and celebrity, featuring Kamryn Cade, a once sort-of-successful TV star, now in her mmm-30's, who finds her career stalled, her confidence rock-bottom and her future potentially full of failure. That is, until her best friend gives her the nudgey-advice she needs to break out of her slump: "Find something you are good at and just do it. Don't let anything or anybody stop you." Kam takes this advice to heart and realizes what she does well, what she has always done well, is play detective. So, grabbing her fake ID and gun and donning her old Fedora from her show, Polly & Jake PI, she throws herself into the gritty, real world of private investigation in Los Angeles, rejoining her co-star, Michael Barlowe (a real, private detective), on whom the series they starred in was based. Suddenly, Kam is on his case, chasing not only the great whatzit, a lying, double-dealing client, a Mysterious Chinese Man, a three-legged cat, a legendary Chinese fortune, but also, a movie role written by her ex-husband, that, if she could just get an audition for, might relaunch her deader-than-dead career.
