"Prison Miracles" was written by a woman who lived a life filled with passion for the Gospel of Christ and those who society considers outcasts. Written in their own words, this book takes an intimate look at some of the lives of the men and women who have been convicted of heinous crimes and were still able to find a God who cares and loves them. Through the love of a gracious Savior and the obedience of a lowly servant, many of these people society writes off as "losers" and "worthless", came to know God who tenderly made His way into their hearts and offered His strong hand of grace. This book is ultimately about love, forgiveness, and second chances in the midst of bondage. "The reason I felt led to write this book is that I want people to see the humanity of the prisoners. So many people discouraged me from working with inmates because many of them believed that my efforts were futile and that I was being manipulated. The proofs of God's work within my book tell us that God is bigger than man and that He can accomplish His purposes, even in the darkest places."- Rev. Darlene Allen Lela Darlene Allen, born to Clifford and Sadie Cribbs, is the oldest of five children. She was named, Lela, after her aunt who had been a strong example of Christ throughout Darlene's life until her death in 1992. Darlene gave her life to Christ when she was nine years old and felt God's calling to preach when she was fourteen. In the mid-eighties, Darlene felt moved to take her ministry to those who were lost and alone within the prison system. She faithfully served God and the inmates within the Missouri prison system for more than twenty-eight years. Today she lives in Missouri, and though she is retired from active service, she still strives to serve joyously through prayer and writing letters of encouragement.
