Maya Richards is a nineteen-year-old student at Cornell University, and this is her first book. She began the writing process during her first relationship at seventeen. "I was filled with sentiments of excitement and an eagerness to embrace love. We parted ways shortly after I began writing, and although my relationship had ended, I chose to channel my disappointment into determination. My poems took on a different light, expressing my triumphs, hopes, and frustrations through the lens of romance. What started as an exploration of a relationship grew into something more personal: a journey toward understanding myself." She hopes to inspire other young women to be courageous in pursuing their passions.
