This story is about a woman (myself, who I will call Laura) who has a big, big heart for animals and that heart was not understood by her husband, we will call him Mick. Through Ren's journey, though, he learned a great deal about his wife's heart and passion and once he respected it, the couple lived happily ever after. Ren was among the kittens that Laura owned, but this was a special kitten given to her by her best friend Vicky. Laura and Mick lived on a beautiful, small ranch along a river in South Dakota. There were big oak trees and plenty of space for the horses, the cats, and their dog. Ren was all gray cat, with beautiful golden eyes. Ren and Laura had a special bond. Ren and the other cats had a nice place to be and sleep in the barn, but Ren wanted to be with Laura all of the time. So, she started hanging on the window screens asking to come into the house with Laura. This caused big arguments between Mick and Laura because Ren was tearing the window screens. The arguments became so bad that Mick said, "Ren had to go or he was"! So, Laura called her brother who had a farm about 25 miles away across the river, and children, who liked to play with cats. Laura was very, very sad, but she put Ren in a carrierand drove her to the farm. Laura cried all the way home and for many days after. Ren stayed at that farm for nearly a year, but then, Ren decided to leave to find her way home. The family reported to Laura that Ren had left.
